The Role of Independent Islamic BMT Cooperatives In The Development of SMEs

Abstract


This study aims to evaluate how the BMT Islam Berdaya Mandiri Cooperative helps the growth of SMEs in Mandau and to find the supporting factors and challenges faced by SMEs. This study was conducted qualitatively and used five informants to collect data through observation, interviews, and documentation, consisting of BMT employees and SMEs actors. The results of the study show that BMT Islam Berdaya Mandiri plays an active role in providing sharia financing, business assistance, and Islamic economic education, which can increase the income and independence of SMEs actors. However, BMT still faces obstacles such as limited capital, human resources, infrastructure, less than optimal regulations, and low public understanding and trust. Improvement efforts are needed in various aspects so that the role of BMT in empowering the community's economy can be more optimal.
